Second circular: Call for proposals

We are pleased to announce the call for proposals for papers and for sessions at the 17th ICHG to be held in Warsaw, 15‒20 July 2018, organised by the University of Warsaw and the Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History, Polish Academy of Sciences.

Papers and posters are welcome on any aspect of historical geography, including empirical, theoretical and historiographical aspects of the field and related disciplines, including the history of cartography, history of science and environmental history.

Proposals for: 1. posters with short contributions; 2. papers; 3. sessions should be submitted on standard forms available here no later than Saturday 14 October 2017.

We would like to draw attention to an extensive poster session and a competition for the best posters.

 

Location

The conference will take place at the University of Warsaw, 26/28 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, PL-00-927 Warszawa, between Sunday 15 July and Friday 20 July 2018.

 

Programme

A full provisional programme will be published in January 2018.

The opening session will be on the afternoon/evening of Sunday 15 July. The main conference sessions will be held during the following Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday will be devoted to mid-conference study visits and trips (see below).

Study Visits and Fieldtrips

An extensive programme of mid-conference study trips to a wide range of landscapes, monuments, museums and field sites both in Warsaw and in different parts of Poland is planned. Booking for these visits will be included within the conference registration process, available in May 2017.

Conference delegates are also invited to join a post-conference residential study trip to Cracow.

Conference Registration

Conference registration will be open in May 2017.

The conference registration fee will be 200 euro for early booking and 300 euro for late booking; 50% for unwaged, including students; for one day 50% of the fee for the whole conference (for example: PhD students as early birds pay 100 euro for the week or 50 euro for one day). Price of the Gala Dinner will be 60 euro, for mid-conference study visits 50 euro (40 for early booking) and under 200 euro for the post-conference field trip.
